Dog Sled Lines

Here are a couple of simple tips on care for your dog sled lines. During fall and spring trainging the lines and snaps get pretty nasty. I keep a 5 gallon bucket of water, (you can add dish detergent) and after every couple of day after your runs, roll your lines up and rinse them in the bucket. You can leave them soaking but remember to take them out the night before or when the lines hit the dirt the next day the snaps will get sticky from the grit. This is another reason to rinse the lines, it helps flush all the sand and grit out of the snaps. You will see that your brass snaps will have a longer lifespan.
I like to take my lines off the ATV or the sled after every use. You will see that the lines last longer when they are kept out of the sun exposure. When I switch over to snow covered trails, then I like to spray the brass snaps with a little DW-40. That will keep the springs in the snaps fresher.
Hope these ideas will help your lines last a little longer.
