Ski Bowl Trailhead

The Ski Bowl Trailhead is where we offer individual, small parties and group rides. Spontaneous Rides are sometimes available.  You’re in for a real treat!

Just South of Mt. Shasta, take the McCloud exit, head East from Interstate 5 onto Hwy. 89.  Travel approximately 6 miles to Ski Park Rd. (This is the road to the Mt. Shasta Ski Park and the Mt. Shasta Nordic Center.)

Trailheads are easily accessible during normal winter driving conditions.

  • Trails are packed and groomed for your safety and the safety of the dogs.  Roads are plowed. Drive carefully. Carry chains and be prepared for winter weather.

  • Plan to arrive at least one half hour prior to your departure time.

  • On Holiday weekends with fresh snow, arrive an hour early, or you could get caught in traffic and miss you starting time.

Dog Cart Rides directions: From downtown Mount Shasta intersection by the City Hall continue East and the road turns into Everett Memorial Highway, past the  front of Mount Shasta High School 1.1 miles, on the left side @ the large trailer with Dogsled Express signage.

Important Note. If you have a reservation.  – Trips are a go snow or shine.  Usually if it’s raining in the valleys it is snowing at the trailhead!  Weather conditions can change quickly – Trails are maintained daily. Always give me a call a couple of days before your trip and leave your cell number. Always check your home phone messages and email the evening before your scheduled trip.
